Telangana: Telangana police officials detained MLA B Shankar Naik on Thursday for mistreating with woman District Collector in Mahbubabad district. On Thursday, he was given bail on a personal bond after emerging in Mahabubabad police station.
On Wednesday, Shankar purportedly acted impolitely with the collector at a public meeting held to set off ‘Harita Haaram’ (a massive plantation drive) in Mahabubabad.
The police lodged cases under section 353 (Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his or her duty) and section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) of the IPC over Naik following the collector who has been found as Preeti Meena lodged a case about the matter.
The reports stated, “After registration of the case, we called the MLA and he appeared before police. He was placed under arrest and granted bail on a personal bond, and he was subsequently released. The collector in her complaint stated that she felt hurt over the MLA’s indecent behaviour after he allegedly touched her hand.”
It added, “Further investigation is on…we are collecting CCTV footage and other clippings and will proceed accordingly.”
On Wednesday, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao inculcated the representative to individually meet the collector and take an unconditional regret to her. Moreover, he also cautioned Naik that he would be deferred from the party.
The video of incident has gone viral on the social media. On the other hand, MLA refused any illegal behavior on his part and asserted he appreciated the collector and make an apology to her.
