Taliban strengthen assaults in northern Afghanistan


The Taliban have ventured up their assaults in Afghanistan's northern territories of Kunduz and Takhar in a move that highlights the gathering's ability to extend its range of operations past the east and south of the nation by executing co-ordinated offensives.

The activists briefly seized control of the vital Kunduz region of Khanabad on 20 August by catching the nearby police central station and various checkpoints before being pushed back by the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) the following day. 

No less than 38 Taliban warriors were slaughtered and a few Afghan cops were injured in the battle, common representative Hejratullah Akbari was cited as saying.
