NEW DELHI: In a relief to cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the Supreme Court on Monday quashed criminal procedures against him for purportedly harming religious opinions by depicting as god Vishnu on a magazine cover.
A Karnataka social dissident, Jayakumar Hiremath, had recorded a body of evidence against him in Bengaluru for supposedly shocking religious estimations. In the magazine cover that was discharged in the year 2013, Dhoni was seen grasping a few things, including a shoe.
Later, a court in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, had issued a non-bailable warrant against him for supposedly "criticizing" a Hindu god.
Dhoni had then drawn nearer the Supreme Court looking for suppress of the criminal procedures against him. The cricketer argued that protestation documented against him was silly and the criminal procedures should have been suppressed. He said that dissension was recorded just to annoy him for the situation.
