The Supreme Court has taken decision to open 34 new private medical colleges in India for the academic session 2016. The information was given by Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
"Establishment of New Medical Colleges- 34 private, 0 government; Increase of intake capacity -7 private colleges, one government; renewal of permission – 30 private and O for government," said the minister
The Supreme Court has made a committee on Medical Council of India’ (MCI) which has permitted seven colleges (private as well as government) to raise the seats in super speciality courses.
The important notifications have been given to Medical Council of India by OC.
Many private colleges get the clearances from Justice (retired) R M Lodha to increase the seats in medical colleges.
The Panel had criticized the medical education regulator MCI in August for not doing fresh inspection of medical colleges.
