Sunrisers Hyderabad beats Pune Supergiants by 4 runs

Visakhapatnam: Sunrisers Hyderabad defeat Rising Pune Supergiants by 4 runs to go top in points table on Tuesday in IPL9. With this win, Hyderabad has increased expectations of reaching the play-off. Pune’s spinner Adam Jampa was the man of the match.

Hyderabad won the toss and elected to bat first. Hyderabad lost wickets at regular intervals and could manage only 137/8 in 20 overs.  Shikhar Dhawan scored 33 runs of 27 balls, Williamson 32 runs of 37 balls and Yuvraj Singh scored 23 runs.

Usually when it comes to nail-biting moments in the final over of an innings, there is no better batsman than Dhoni. But as Pune needed 14 runs to win off the final over, it was a rare failure from Dhoni, who was run-out off the penultimate ball of the innings by Yuvraj Singh. He had hit a six off the previous ball and looked all set to seal another match, before attempting a suicidal second run.

With this win, sunrisers reached the top of the points table with 14 points, while Pune to the 7th spot with six points after their eight defeats in 11 matches.

Adam Jampa took 6 wickets for 19 runs in his 4 overs, the second best of IPL history. Earlier, in IPL first season Sohail Tanvir took 6 wickets for 14 runs against Chennai super kings is still the best.
