Subrata Roy Sahara granted four week parole


New Delhi: Sahara India Chief Subrata Roy was released on parole for 4 weeks. The Supreme Court ordered the release of Roy and his brother-in-law Ashok Roy Choudhary on Friday who was lodged in Tihar jail since 2014. Subrata Roy’s mother Chabbi Roy passed away last night at the age of 95. 

Subrata Roy filed a petition of the 3 week parole for his mother’s funeral and other rituals in the Supreme Court, which was accepted by the court.

They will be accompanied by policemen in plainclothes who will take them back to Tihar jail after four weeks. The court also said that the Delhi Police Commissioner will determine how many policemen will stay with Subrata Roy.

Roy has been in Tihar jail since March 4, 2014 on the orders of the apex court in relation with a long running dispute with market regulator SEBI.
