Srinagar: SSB man dead, 8 wounded in militant attack


SRINAGAR: A paramilitary Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) jawan died on Friday and eight others including policemen were allegedly wounded during a hit and run attack in Zakura area of Srinagar.

The militants began firing at the vehicles of SSB men during that day.

“The SSB men were returning to their camp when they came under militant firing at Zakura area in outskirts of Srinagar at around 7.05 pm,” he said.

The SSB men also started firing on the militants, official said.  

“After a brief encounter, the militants escaped from the area,” he said.

At Least eight SSB men and a J&K policeman were wounded in the militant attack. 

“The injured were immediately evacuated to hospital, where one of them succumbed to injuries,” he affirmed.

A search operation was launched by the police officials after the militant attack.

After the incident, the militants rushed from the spot.

Within the two days, it was second attack in Srinagar.

On Wednesday, Two militants were killed by the security forces at the EDI building of Sempora, Pampore in Srinagar.
