SRINAGAR: Nearly three Lashkar-E-Taiba militants were killed by the security forces in an encounter that took place in Pulwama district of South Kashmir on Thursday. As per the reports, an encounter lasted for about six hours.
On Wednesday, the encounter begins in Kakapora area of Pulwama district after an intelligence input came to know that three local boys who had connected to militant group Lashker-e-Taiba were hiding in a house situated in a densely populated locality, a police official stated.
For the first time, the counter-insurgency operation was held in Pulwama area following the existence of of local militants, he said.
Three slain terrorists have not been found yet. Recently, the Lashkar-E-Taiba group lost its commander Junaid Mattoo in a violence that took at Arwin village in Anantnag district of South Kashmir on June 17.
Over three days, this is the second successful operation against the terror group.
On Thursday, two militants were died in a violence that took place in Sopore township of Baramulla district in north Kashmir.
