Srinagar: Armed Forces on high alert after information of more fidayeen attacks


SRINAGAR: Troops have been put on high alert after the fidayeen attack that was held on CRPF camp at North Kashmir’s Bandipora. As per the reports, the terrorists are getting prepared to perform another fidayeen attack in Srinagar. “We have got intelligence inputs that militants are planning another fidayeen attack in the Valley,” IG CRPF Ravideep Sahi stated.

He asserted that the reports the terrorists may carry out fidayeen attack anywhere in the Valley. “The troops have been put on alert. The Quick Response Teams (QRTs) are on maximum alert to deal with any situation,” he added.

As per the IG, the security men carried out drills and were put on high alert to handle any circumstances. It was as a consequence of this alertness that CRPF men thwarted the fidayeen attack on Monday, Sahi stated. In sight of the intelligence inputs, the Army has created impermanent check-posts at two places in Srinagar. About four heavily armed militants died in the attack by CRPF.

DG CRPF Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar stated, he made a visit to 45bn CRPF camp at Sumbal, Bandipora on Tuesday and conversed with the jawans and officers. He praised the officers for successfully carrying out the attack.

J&K DGP S P Vaid stated the probe were on to found the identity of the slain terrorists. He speculated that the slain terrorist was a part of Lashkar-e-Toiba. In reaction to a query if the terrorists had recently penetrated, Vaid asserted, “It would be known after investigations are completed”.
