NEW DELHI: Indian Athelete Dharambir Singh failed the dope test which was held some days back. On Tuesday, he missed his flight to Rio De Janeiro to participate in the mega event.
Sources said, “Dharambir, 27, the first Indian male sprinter to qualify for the Olympics in 36 years, had failed a drug test conducted by the National Anti- Doping Agency and had been told to stay back.”
Sprinter Dharambir Singh was about to board the flight on Tuesday morning but he did not turn up.
He was tested positive for a banned drug after shot putter Inderjeet Singh and wrestler Narsingh Yadav.
In July, Athlete Dharambir got qualified for the Rio Olympics at the Indian Grand Prix in Bengaluru
Sources said, “He was told about the failed test three days back. His timings in practice were erratic, raising suspicion.”
