Speaker granted House panel 2 more weeks to submit report on Bhagwant Mann issue


New Delhi:  Speaker Sumitra Mahajan today granted two more weeks to the Lok Sabha panel probing the issue regarding Bhagwant Mann shooting a video of the Parliament complex and asked the AAP member not to attend the House till a decision was taken on the matter.

The committee was earlier asked to submit the report today. It was assigned to probe Mann's conduct and his act of live-streaming his journey to Parliament, and also inquire into the security implications and suggest suitable remedial measures to avoid recurrence of such incidents.

Apart from being headed by Kirit Somaiya of the BJP, the committee includes Meenakshi Lekhi and Satyapal Singh (both BJP), Anandrao Adsul (Shiv Sena), Bhartruhari Mahtab (BJD), Ratna De (Trinamool Congress), Thota Narasimham (Telugu Desam), K C Venugopal (Congress) and P Venugopal (AIADMK).

Mann is currently barred from attending the proceedings of the House by the Speaker till the investigation is pending against him.
