Madrid: Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal will play in Rio Olympics. He is totally fit and ready for Rio, the head of the Spanish Olympic Committee said onThursday.
In 2008, Nadal was Olympic champion of Tennis game which held at Beijing but four years later, he was not part of the London Games as he got injured.
At the opening ceremony of the Rio Olympics, the 30-year-old will symbolize Spain’s flag on August 5.
“Nadal’s commitment is total and he will go to Rio to participate,” said Alejandro Blanco, the president of the country’s Olympic committee (COE).
“I have no doubts over his participation. He is training regularly in order to achieve what he wants — a medal.”
At Rio Olympics, Nadal will not be able to play singles as well as mixed doubles with French Open champion Garbine Muguruza.
Moreover, he is getting better day by day from a left wrist injury.
