SKODA Octavia RS was launched by SKODA earlier this month. Now the company, SKODA AUTO INDIA is all set to launch its Flagship SUV, SKODA Kodiaq on coming October 4.
The SKODA kodiaq, will be the new SUV to enter the line up in The Indian Auto market. Kodiaq is named after an Alaskan bear.
Kodiaq is Skoda’s first ever seven-seat Car. This Giant SUV is built on the same basic framework as the SKODA Superb and the SKODA Octavia (the VW Group’s modular MQB platform), but Kodiaq is obviously stretched out and raised according to the latest technology.
Kodiaq is expected to fall into the price range of Rs 32-40 lakh. The SKODA Indai is already taking Advance booking for it. The Kodiaq is likely to give competition to the popular Toyota Fortuner(new updayed model 2017) and the new Ford Endeavour. V is set to launch on October 7
Ashutosh Dixit, director – sales, service and marketing, Skoda Auto India reveled that, “Kodiaq will be very uniquely placed. In terms of the size it’s a 7-seater. In terms of the equipment level it will go up against the luxury competitors and in terms of the pricing, it will be positioned like a Skoda – accessible and value for money. I think in combination it will create a very strong place for itself within the SUV sector.”
SKODA promises that the Kodiaq has the largest cabin in its class. The interior length is 1,793mm. The elbow room is 1,527mm front and 1,510mm at the rear. The head room for the front passenger’s measures 1,020m, while for the rear it’s 1,014mm. The rear legroom of the vehicle is up to 104mm.
The Kodiaq comes with the 2.0-litre 177PS TDI diesel mill and is most likely to do duty. The engine already powers the 2016 Skoda Superb, and is quite a good performer. Petrol engine is expected to be to be a 180PS 1.8-litre TSI or a 180PS 2.0-litre TSI. The engine might be in mated to a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DSG, and has 4X4 wheel base.
Radar-based features like adaptive cruise control and auto emergency braking will be absent in the Indian Model but but there’s loads of new things SKODA Kodiaq has to offer. The latest Skoda Connect touch screen has on-board Wi-Fi, Google Earth, an app that lets you check the car’s status from your phone and of course, the Apple Car Play and Android Auto.
There are 360-degree cameras, hands-free operation functioning, and even SOS function, much like in Ford’s car models. There are also what SKODA calls ‘Simply Clever’ features, some of them are as follows; a magnetic flashlight to stick on the bodywork when you have a breakdown, rubber beading that pops out from the doors when you open them to protect their edges from scuffs, and umbrellas in the doors, just like the SKODA Superb.
