Sixer King IS Back!! Yuvraj hits form, smashes unbeaten 177 In Ranji Trophy Match

Yuvraj Singh made a rip-roaring return to form on the cricket field after smashing a 177-run knock in Punjab's Ranji Trophy encounter against Madhya Pradesh. The sleepy village of Lahli, in the outskirts of the Rohtak city in Haryana, was brought to life yesterday with Yuvraj showing glimpses of what he is capable of.

Out of the national reckoning from a long time in the longer formats of the game, Yuvraj has been in woeful form in domestic cricket this season. In fact, his 177 against Madhya Pradesh was his first fifty-plus score in 14 first-class innings. The 34-year-old hit a total of 24 fours and faced 295 balls in his knock.

He had remained unbeaten on 164 at the end of first day's play on Thursday but could only add 13 runs today. Once Yuvraj got out, many spectators at the Chaudhary Bansi Lal Stadium left the ground as they had come to see their hero bat. Yuvraj shared a 156-run stand with Gurkeerat Singh Mann (103), a partnership that came in just 179 balls. All MP bowlers, barring Ishwar Pandey who took 8 wickets, had to bear the brunt of the two Punjab batsmen.

Yuvraj last played in whites for India in 2012. He last played an ODI game in December 2013 and earlier this year, featured in India's World T20 campaign at home. With consistent showing by India fringe players on the A-team tours, Yuvraj is no longer a fancied option for the selectors to break into the Test and ODI teams. However, if the southpaw can come up with more knocks like these in the coming weeks, his chances will definitely improve and his fans will stay happy!
