Six robbers looted Gold of Rs 3 crore from finance firm in Jalandhar


JALANDHAR: 10 Kg of Gold worth Rs 3 crore was looted by the six robbers at the private finance company on Monday. Apart from gold, the robbers had even taken Rs 36,000 of cash from the office.

Till evening it was not disclosed by the police officials that how much amount of gold was there at the office. They added that, the company could not produce any document which could substantiate its claims about the quantum of gold.

ON Monday at around 12.30 pm, six robbers came into the office of Manappuram Finance Limited in Rama Mandi on the Jalandhar- Hoshiarpur road. Inside the bathroom, they locked two employees Ankit and Naresh took away the keys and fled with the gold and cash.

After getting the information, police officials rushed to the spot and investigated the whole matter. They even interrogated the organization employees to get the details about the incident.

“We are checking CCTV footage also. It appears that around half a dozen persons locked them inside the bathroom and took the valuables from the safes. But, till late evening the company officials have not been able to provide any entries in their own records which can show that they held such a huge quantity of gold with them,” said deputy commissioner of police (DCP) Harjit Singh.

“The company office have not employed any security guard and their ‘day book,’ having record of daily entries, does not show cash more than Rs 2 lakh in a day”, He added.
