Sindhu, Srikanth and Prannoy advances to semis of French Open Super Series


Paris: Rio Olympics silver medalist PV Sindhu reached her maiden women’s singles semi-final on Friday in the 325,000 dollars French Open Super Series and Indian shuttlers Kidambi Srikanth and HS Prannoy also advances to men’s singles semifinals following winning their respective quarter-final games.

In women’s singles, second seeded shuttler Sindhu beat the China’s Chen Yufei by 21-14, 21-14 points to win over, which ended for forty minutes. Sindhu in semifinals will now clash against either Sung Ju Hyun of South Korea or Akane Yamaguchi of Japan at Pierre de Coubertin Stadium of Paris.

In men’s singles, previous week Denmark Open champion Kidambi Srikanth beat Shi Yuqi of China looking his fourth Super Series label.

Following losing first set of match to the Chinese player, Srikanth recovered in the games to win it 8-21, 21-19, 21-9 and advances in semi-finals.

Moreover in other men’s singles, HS Prannoy crushes Jeon Hyeok-jin of South Korea by 21-16, 21-16 points to score a straight victory.
