Shot-Putter Inderjeet Singh’s B-Sample Also Tests Positive


New Delhi: Shot-putter Inderjeet Singh’s on Tuesday tested positive yet again, this for ‘B’ sample, which puts his possible participation in Rio Olympics under cloud. The 28-year-old athlete’s sample ‘A’ tested positive for banned substances on July 22. He was found guilty of using Androsterone, Etiocholalone, 5-a-Androstandeiol and Anabolic steroids.

The National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) had asked the Haryana athlete, who had won a silver in the 2014 Asian Games, if he wants to test his ‘B’ sample and if so, to do this within seven days.

With his ‘B’ sample also testing positive, the Punjab-born-athlete will not only have to miss Rio Olympics, but also faces the prospect of being banned for four years under the new WADA Code.

According to reports, like Narsingh Yadav, Inderjeet Singh too has alleged that he is a victim of a conspiracy and that his sample has been tampered with.
