Sarbananda Sonowal sworn as Chief Minister of Assam


Guwahati: BJP’s leader Sarbananda Sonowal sworn as the Chief Minister of Assam on Tuesday. The ceremony was held in the ground of Guwahati Khanapara. The ceremony was attended by top BJP dignitaries including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Kiren Rijiju, Suresh Prabhu and Nitin Gadkari along with the chief ministers of BJP ruled states.

Along with Sonowal 10 ministers has taken the oath. There were more than 100 VVIP in the program. Assam’s former chief minister and congress leader Tarun Gogoi was also present in the ceremony.

The BJP created history in Assam on May 19, winning 60 of the 126 assembly seats up for grabs. The victory in Assam means the BJP will now play a decisive role in the politics of the north eastern region. The Congress Party ended up with just 26 seats.
