Mumbai: On Friday Indian Rupee down over 10 paise next to the US dollar in early trade on account of buying of Amercian currency by banks and importers. At 9.37 am, the local currency was buying and selling 12 paise down at 66.82 next to the US dollar.
The currency commenced the day at 66.735 levels, nearly 4 paise down, against the preceding close of 66.70. On Friday meanwhile, domestic equity markets commenced on a flat note tracking mixed international cues.
The BSE Sensex opened 23.01 points, or 0.08 per cent, increase at 28,129.22, whereas NSE Nifty index commenced 12.15 points, or 0.14 per cent, up at 8721.70.
According to experts, US currency climbed next to some international currencies ahead of a key US jobs report, which weighed on the rupee. On Thursday, rupee lowers 18 paise to 66.69 next to dollar due to FED rate hike woes.
