MUMBAI: On Friday the Indian rupee gains 16 paise to 66.86 next to the dollar in early trade on fresh selling of the US currency by exporters and banks amid a superior commencing in the domestic equity market.
Forex dealers conveyed decrease in the dollar against other currencies abroad supported the rupee. They have also further conveyed that, foreign fund inflows and a superior commencing in the domestic equity market gave the up trend some momentum.
Yesterday, the domestic unit concluded under the psychological 67-mark, decreasing 13 paise to hit over two-week low of 67.02. Today for now, the benchmark BSE Sensex increase 258.59 points or 0.91 per cent to 28,671.48 in early session.
