Rupee was exchanging lower by 12 paise at 67.18 against the dollar in early exchange on Monday on expanded month-end interest for the American coin from merchants and banks.
The dollar was firm against some worldwide monetary standards after the US Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen showed that the loan fees could ascend in coming months.
Forex merchants said month-end interest for the US coin from shippers and a lower opening in the household value market put weight on the rupee.
On Friday, the rupee had shut level at 67.06 against the US money in confined action.
In the interim, the benchmark BSE Sensex fell by 60.39 focuses or 0.21 for every penny to 27,721.86 in opening exchange on Monday.
