Mumbai: Today the Indian rupee opened higher at 8 paise to Rs 64.52 next to the US Dollar on fresh selling of the US currency by banks and exporters.
Traders further conveyed that, the stock market record highs in near the beginning trade cleared the way for the rupees appreciate.
But the US dollar made headway abroad following US jobs data, which came as a dampener for the rupee.
On Friday, the domestic unit rebounded 18 paise to conclude at a fresh week high of Rs 64.60 per dollar. The benchmark Sensex up 234.83 points, or 0.74 per cent.
