Rohit Sharma defeated Sri Lanka in Virat’s absence. He is the only cricketer who scored 3rd double-century of his ODI career. India gave 392/4 score against Sri Lanka at Punjab Cricket Association ( PCA) stadium in Mohali, in state of Punjab. Rohit Sharma took 153 balls to reach his double century and nailed with 13 fours and 12 sixes which were in process. This was the 100th time when India scored above 300 runs in the history of ODI cricket match. India is surely the first team to achieve the feat in cricket matches.
In 2014, Rohit scored 264 runs against Sri Lanka at the stadium of Kolkata, his 1st ever double century was scored in 2013 when the score was 209 against Australia in the stadium of Bangalore. It was a match when Rohit Sharma became 3rd Indian cricketer to score a double-century in ODIs after renowned cricketers Virendra Sehwag and Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Just a year later, Rohit Sharma managed to earn 264 runs at Eden Gardens of Kolkata. The score still remained the highest by this hardworking batsman. Martin Guptill from New Zealand and Chris Gayle from West Indies are two other famous batsmen to score double centuries in ODI match.
