Rio Olympics 2016: Salman Khan and AR Rahman wish Indian Olympic contingent ahead of Games

New Delhi: Bollywood actor and Indian Olympic contingent ambassador Salman Khan and music composer AR Rahman met the Indian athletes at an event organised by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) in New Delhi on Monday and wished them.

But, noted wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt who courted controversy over making Salman Khan the ambassador, skipped the event, for reasons unknown. When in April this year, IOA announced Salman’s name as ambassador, Dutt had said that athletes like PT Usha and Milkha Singh should have been considered for the post. Salman who met the whole contingent for first time, asked the athletes to go give their best shot during the games and leave everything else on the almighty.

AR Rahman said that he believes in the athletes and nothing can stop them from winning medals. Rahman also said that music and sports are the two things that unify the country. Sania Mirza, Dipa Karmakar, Vinesh Phogat, Vinod Tomar are some of the prominent sportspersons present during the event. IOA has organised the event to bid adieu to the Indian contingent. Charu Sharma hosted the event in which senior IOA officials were also present.
