Rio Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu appointed Group-I officer in Andhra Pradesh


Amaravati: Rio Olympic silver medallist P V Sindhu selected as a Group-I officer in Andhra Pradesh. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday sent the administration order to the winning Indian shuttler. Presenting the appointment letter, CM further conveyed he was confident that Sindhu would bring more medals to the nation in future.

CM Chandrababu Naidu had assured a Group-I post to the shuttler Sindhu when she won the silver medal in Rio Olympics. Consequently, she was selected as the deputy collector. The state administration has assign orders in this regard, stating that PV Sindhu is appointed the deputy collector, asking her to report to the commissioner within 30 days.

The administration had altered the Andhra Pradesh (Regulation of Appointments to Public Services and Rationalisation of Staff Pattern and Pay Structure) Act, 1994, as staffing in public service has to be made through the APPSC, selection committee.

PV Sindhu has been employed with Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL) as 2013 and is presently an assistant manager (sports) at its Hyderabad office. Indian shuttler has expressed happiness over her offer letter and clarified that badminton is her initial priority and would fully concentrate on this.

She also became the fifth Indian woman to seal a medal in Olympics history after Karnam Malleswari, Mary Kom, Saina Nehwal and Sakshi Malik.
