Rebels warn against travel in Shan State


Four rebel armies released a joint statement on November 21 advising the public to postpone their travel to northern Shan State.

Kachin Independence Army, Ta'ang National Liberation Army, Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army and Arakan Army released a statement confirming their involvement in the attacks on military bases in Kutkai, Pansai, Nanhkan and Muse on November 20 and warning locals to stay away from the military operations.

The statement called the attacks an ‘inevitable’ revenge for the continued armed pressure from the Tatmadaw despite the groups’ desire for ‘genuine peace’ and a diplomatic path to deal with the political problem.

Myanmar's State Counselor's Office likewise made a declaration in regards to the assaults that murdered and harmed a few regular citizens and officers.
