Cyclone Okchi : Heavy Rainfall hits Mumbai, Schools closed
New Delhi: Cyclone Ockhi has reached to Mumbai after hitting Kerala since four to five days. Mumbaikars have been witnessing heavy rainfall. The rainfall at Santacruz weather station was noted 7mm whereas Colaba station noted 11.4 mm rainfall amid 5.30 pm and 8.30 pm yesterday.
In December month, Mumbai recorded highest rainfall in 24 hours due to the effect of Cyclone Ockhi. Earlier, the city witnessed 31.4 mm rainfall in December month in year 1967. The MeT department has issued warning of heavy rainfall in Thane, Palghar, Raigad, Nandurbar, Dhule, Nasik as well as Jalgaon districts.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has cautioned people from going near the beaches. On the festival of Ambedkar Jayanti, several people are probable to get collected at Shivaji Park.
On Monday, Indian Meteorological Department stated that Cyclone Ockhi was likely to lower down as it shifted northeastwards. It also denied speculations that the cyclone would strike Mumbai. It added that the Mumbai shoreline could face high-speed breeze from yesterday night. The tempo of the wind could stroke 50-60 kmph.
Israel conducts fresh missile attack on Syrian military base
Israel carried out a missile attack on Monday against a Syrian military base in the Damascus.
The Syrian air military protection reacted to the attack, damaging three of six missiles aiming the military base in Jamraya.
Individuals in Damascus listened to the strong sound of blast during airstrikes that were held on Monday midnight.
On May 5, 2013, the military research centre in Jamraya was strike by Israeli jets. The Israelis stated they hit Hezbollah-bound missiles in that Syrian military base.
The attack was held following Israel hit military base in Kisweh town in the south of Damascus.
The army was reported to have damaged two missiles whereas the others strike the base.
Israeli authorities alleged various times that they would not admit any Iranian pressure close to their borders.
The Syrian government has constantly blamed Israel of helping the rebels close to the Golan Heights.
Bollywood’s romantic actor Shashi Kapoor Passed Away At 79
NEW DELHI: Bollywood’s romantic actor Shashi Kapoor died at the age of 79 on Monday in Mumbai’s Kokilaben Ambani Hospital due to prolonged illness. The information about his demise was shared by his nephew, actor Randhir Kapoor on the social media. He wrote, “Yes he has passed away. He had kidney problem since several years. He was on dialysis for several years.”
As per the reports, the funeral of actor will take place on Tuesday.
The actor has worked in superhit films including Deewar, Sharmilee, Namak Halaal Deewar, Shaan, Namak Halal, Kabhi Kabhie, Do Aur Do Paanch, Pyar Kiye Jaa, Junoon. He was born in 1938 to actor Prithviraj Kapoor. As a child actor, Shashi Kapoor began his career in Bollywood from film Aag and Awaara.
After his demise, the Bollywood industry came in shock. On Twitter handle, several renowned actors paid tribute to him.
Shashi Kapoor was honored with Dadasaheb Phalke Award in year 2015. Not only this, he also received Padma Bhushan award for his outstanding acting in films.
‘Deewar’ actor tied knot to actress Jennifer Kendal. He used to live along with his sons Karan, Kunal and daughter Sanjana Kapoor.
Hockey World League Final: Germany beat India 2-0 In Pool Stages
Indian Hockey team lost the game against Germany 0-2 at the Hockey World League Final match held on Monday. The players showcased unsatisfactory performance in their second consecutive match.
In the earlier matches, India faced a draw 1-1 against Australia and witnessed defeat by 2-3 against England. Currently, India lied with only one point from three matches in Pool B category.
