Explosion on ONGC ship at Cochin Shipyard, 5 dead, 10 wounded
Cochin: A blast occurred at ONGC rig on Tuesday that was under repair at the Cochin Shipyard. It takes the lives of nearly five employees and wounded 12 others.
As per senior officials, the explosion took place in a counterbalance tank in the frontward portion of drill craft ‘Sagar Bhushan’.
“There was a slight blaze eruption, which was brought under regulation straight away, but thick smoke within the tank spoiled evacuation operations,” a representative stated.
Even after holiday on Tuesday, the yard was having several workers at the time of explosion. As per spokesperson, “The yard has an effectual blaze control mechanism and there were firefighter on agreement on board the ship under mend. But the number of fatalities was more due to the detail that the explosion was within a tank.”
Fire brigades were immediately called up to douse the flames and they even carried out evacuation operations.
The workforce who sustained injuries were taken to the hospital to undergo treatment.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has directed the cops and evacuation workers to give all emergency support to the victims. He even told hospitals to offer immediate trauma care to the sufferers of the misfortune.
Syria: US drone demolishes Russian-made tank
A Russian-made T-72 tank was damaged on Tuesday by US military drone in Syria in the second suspicious attack against pro-Syrian government.
On Sunday, US MQ-9 Reaper drone didn’t strike at the coalition-backed local forces close to Al Tabiyeh in Syria.
US representative affirmed nearly two pro-Syrian government forces lost their lives in the strike.
As per US military, the strike damaged tank after it shifted within sacking range of the US-backed forces.
The attack occurred after a brawl with pro-Syrian government forces and coalition forces amid Feb 7 and 8. It led to the death of over 100 pro-Syrian government workers.
On Tuesday, Kremlin affirmed, “It had no details about Russian armed forces reportedly being dead in last week’s strike.”
The U.S.-led coalition was created in 2014 to clash with Islamic State troops in Syria as well as Iraq.

India defeats South Africa by 73 runs in 5th ODI
India won the game against South Africa by 73 runs in the 5th ODI on Tuesday. Rohit Sharma hit his 17th century (115) on Tuesday against the opponent team. The squad gave a challenging score of 274 runs for seven wickets to South Africa.
The team clinched the series for the first time in any format against African country.
The Indian team first visited South Africa in 1992 and since then, it has never won any series in any format till date. Although India won a T20 match there in 2006, it was a one-match event.
Indian bowlers thrashed away South Africa in 42.2 overs. Bowler Kuldeep Yadav took 4 wickets for 57 runs against India.
Hosts South Africa won the toss in the match and decided to bowl first. In the 5th ODI, South Africa did changes in the squad. The hosts included left-arm spinner Tabraiz Shamsi in place of fast bowler Chris Morris in eleven member squad. The Indian team has not done any changes in its last XI.
South African team lost the game at a score of 201 runs in 42.2 overs. Even after 71 runs contribution by Hashim Amla, the team couldn’t able to win the match.
