Kashmir : Train operations shut for safety reason after Shopian encounter
After the encounter in Shopian on Sunday night, the train service in Kashmir valley has been deferred on Monday for safety reason. A Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorist and three Over Ground Workers (OGWs) were attacked by security forces in clashes on Sunday.
As per railway official, “Srinagar-Jammu national highway, passing through south Kashmir, was open for one-way traffic. We have deferred all train services in the Kashmir valley today.”
He added that train operations will be closed between Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir.
Train operations have been shut in the valley following an order by cops.
Prior, several trains witnessed massive destruction due to strikes in Kashmir. In 2017, the train service was deferred for over 50 times partly or completely for safety basis.
On Monday, a police spokesperson affirmed that a letter was received from Army that during clashes a terrorist and 3 OGWs were attacked at Pahnoo Shopian on Sunday night.
The dead LeT terrorist was found as Amir Ahmad Malik.
Death Toll in PNG earthquake reaches 67
Nearly 67 people lost their lives in a massive earthquake that occurred at Papua New Guinea’s remote highlands recently.
The evacuation attempts has been sluggish as rescuers struggle with barren roads and power shortages following the 7.5-magnitude earthquake occurred on February 26 in Papua New Guinea’s remote highlands.
On Monday, the natives of Southern Highlands, Enga, Western and Hela areas witnessed powerful aftershocks.
As per the reports, nearly 17,000 people lost their homes due to the strong earthquake.
Despite of the lot of efforts by rescuers, the people have been facing shortage of food, water in some areas due to destruction of roads.
The Australian and New Zealand defence forces have started giving help while China Red Cross and Beijing have also promised financial assistance, PNG Post-Courier stated.
Prime Minister Peter O’Neill stated recently that the closure of the gas plant would have a great effect on the economy, which is heavily reliant on its natural resources.
Teaser of Rajnikanth and Akshay Kumar starrer ‘2.0’ leaked online
Rajinikanth’s younger daughter Soundarya has called it a “heartless act” after the teaser of Rajinikanth’s mega-budget project ‘2.0’s’ was leaked last morning online. The teaser was screened exclusively for the VIP guests at the Lyca chairman Subaskaran’s birthday party.
Made at a budget of over 400 crore, 2.0 is said to be India’s most expensive film so far.
Soundarya took out her anger on social media site Twitter by writing, “Leaking content online before the official release should not be tolerated or encouraged! This is a heartless act ignoring hard work, efforts, and sentiments of the makers for few seconds of excitement.”
Directed by Shankar, the film ‘2.0’ features Rajinikanth, Amy Jackson and Akshay Kumar in the prominent roles. The film is the second installment of 2010’s ‘Enthiran’.
IPL 2018: Inaugural ceremony shifted to April 7
Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament is all set to get start from 7 th April 2018. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Monday that the opening ceremony date of the 11th edition of IPL has been changed and it will be now held on April 7 before the match.
Prior, the inaugural ceremony was slated to be held on April 6. The first match will be played between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) IPL Franchise.
As per BCCI officials, the date of opening ceremony has been shifted after the consent of Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators’ (CoA) order.
The reports revealed that the opening ceremony will be now held at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. The financial plan for opening ceremony has also been slashed by Rs 20 crore.
A BCCI official wrote, “Prior the opening ceremony was slated for April 6 at the Cricket Club of India. Now CoA has taken decision that it will take place on April 7 at Wankhede ahead of 2018 IPL opener.”
The official affirmed, “Earlier the budget for the opening ceremony was Rs 50 crore (approved by the IPL governing council), now it has been reduced to Rs 30 crore. This call, too, has been taken by the CoA.”
