Bengaluru: In a big blow to team India, off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin suffered an injury in his forearm during the training session on the final day of team’s preparatory camp in Bengaluru on Monday, ahead of the four-Test series in West Indies. India's newly appointed head coach Anil Kumble ruled out any possibilities of a major injury. He said that it just happened some time ago and it will be assessed.
It's a bruise, we'll assess him. It's been just an hour since it happened," Kumble said. Ashwin will surely be one of the key players for India. Recently, during the triangular series in the Caribbean islands, which involved South Africa, Australia and the host West Indies, spin played an important role. It is likely that it is going to play a crucial role during West Indies vs India Test series as well.
When the track offers such turn and grip, very few spinners in the world become as dangerous as Ashwin. Virat Kohli will not want to take the field in the first Test of the four-match series in Antigua on July 21, later this month.
