New Delhi: Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin came up with a match-winning spell of 7/83 in the second innings of the Antigua Test agaisnt West Indies. India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has surged to the top of the ICC Player Rankings for Test Bowlers after a superb outing in the first Test against the West Indies in Antigua which the visiting side won by an innings and 92 runs.
Pakistan leg-spinner Yasir took a career-best figures of 10-141 to help beat England in the first Test, but followed it up with the worst return of his 14 contests in the longest format at Old Trafford, 1-266, as the hosts secured a crushing 330-run victory. As Yasir toiled in Manchester, Ashwin was turning in a man-of-the-match to see off West Indies in the first Test in Antigua.
India won by an innings and 92 runs, thanks in no small part to Ashwin's 113 with the bat and match figures of 7-126. England's seam duo James Anderson and Stuart Broad follow Ashwin in the top three, with Yasir having slipped behind South Africa's Dale Steyn into fifth. Virat Kohli climbed to 12th in the batting rankings after scoring a double hundred in Antigua, closing on his career-best of 10th, achieved in 2010.
