Ranveer Singh on his filmmaking plans


With youthful Bollywood on-screen characters like Ranbir Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra and Anushka Sharma venturing into film production, many more of their contemporaries are contemplating on taking the same road. While prior there were reports that Alia Bhatt is keen on producing movies which have out-of-the-box scripts, now Ranveer Singh has opened up about his filmmaking plans too.

Discussing it, Ranveer recently affirmed, “I don’t rate my business acumen very highly, so if I were to, then I want to be a creative producer. I would definitely be interested in creatively curating a project.” Talking about the kind of movies he would like to make, he included, “I might want to back a novel thought. It would be something mainstream, something that has a universal theme that children can watch, appreciate and enjoy. A very young film for teenagers, maybe.”

Praising his contemporaries who have turned producers, he additionally stated, “Anushka and I pretty much began our careers together, so I am very, very proud of what she is doing. My best wishes are with Ranbir. I admire him for backing a novel story in the way that he has, in his first outing as a producer and I am particularly appreciative of everything that Priyanka is doing for regional cinema.”

“I have a few thoughts that I am working on, a few stories that I would be eager to tell however I have far to go, significantly more to find out about the specialty and significantly more beneficial experience to aggregate before I would see myself ready to direct a film,” said the on-screen character before signing off.

On the work front, Ranveer is presently shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum “Padmavati” alongside Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor, and will soon begin work on Zoya Akhtar’s ‘Gully Boy’ inverse Alia Bhatt.
