Ranbir apologises for cutting Govinda’s role in his upcoming film

Recently, there were reports that Bollywood performer Govinda is quite miffed with the makers of ‘Jagga Jasoos’ for using his still from the motion picture for publicity, even though he is not a part of the film. Apparently the actor had unceremoniously left the film after he felt that his part wasn’t progressing as was guaranteed to him by Anurag Basu.

At a recent promotional event for the motion picture, Ranbir opened up about the entire episode and took the blame for cutting Govinda’s part from the script. “Unfortunately, the whole track has been chopped off; it is our fault, Basu and mine. We had begun this film prematurely, without an entire script. The character had totally changed, and the film was taking so long. It is very irresponsible, and very unfair to cast a great legend like Govinda and not do justice to his part. We are sorry, however it is the best thing for the film so we had to cut that track out.”

After Govinda opted out, the makers got Bengali performer Saswata Chatterjee to play Ranbir’s dad, who played ‘Bob’, the professional killer, in Sujoy Ghosh’s ‘Kahaani’.
