Ram Nath Kovind visits Mahatma Gandhi’s memorial at Rajghat before leaving for Rashtrapati Bhavan


President-elect Ram Nath Kovind, who will be sworn in as India’s fourteenth president today, offered his regards to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

After offering floral tributes at the Mahatma’s memorial, the 71-year-old leader came back to his 10, Akbar Road home.

At around 11:15 AM, a motorcade arrived from the Rashtrapati Bhavan to take him for the elaborate oath-taking ceremony.

At the presidential palace, which will soon be his new home, Mr Kovind, accompanied by his wife, met President Pranab Mukherjee who was sitting tight for them in the study.
