Rajasthan High court stays recruitment of 562 firemen


Jaipur: Rajasthan High Court has imposed a cost of Rs 5,000 on the local bodies department for failing replyto its notice while the court stayed the recruitment 562 post of firemen. The single bench of MN Bhandari was hearing a petition by Sanjay Kumar and 39 others challenging the list for recruitment of firemen.

The court noticed that despite repeated reminders nobody from the department of local bodies appeared in the court nor filed any reply to notice. The court observed that such non serious approach by the government department resulting in dragging on the cases and wasting court's time. This was done even when the interim order has gone against the department.

The court said the department legal cell is not taking the cases seriously and imposed a cost of Rs 5,000 on the government which it said is at liberty to pass on to the concerned official. The court also warned that in case of no reply to notice here on for very file a cost of Rs 5,000 would be imposed on the concerned officer for dereliction of duty. The court also directed to send the order copy to the Chief Secretary and principal secretary Local bodies.

Counsel for the petitioner R P Saini said the case pertained to recruitment of firemen 2015. Notification was issued on December 30 last year for recruitment of 562 post of fireman and written examination were held on June 6 this year. The petitioners passed the written test in the first list but their names were missing in the second list and they approached the court challenging the second list. The court posted the matter for next hearing on Sept 27.
