Jaipur: Five members of a family, including two children, died after their speeding car rammed into a tree near a highway in Sangariya area of the Hanumangarh district on late Friday night. The crash left two members of the same family grievously injured and is undergoing treatment at the critical care unit of the district hospital.
The victims were returning to Sangariya from Salasar Temple when when the incident took place. Gagan (31) his wife Neru (28) their daughter Kanshu (1) died on the spot. Janak Rani (60) mother of Neru, Gunit (1) grandson of Rani, died while on their way to the hospital. "Gunit's parents Parveen (35) and Puja (29) were injured in the accident and have been admitted into the hospital here in Hanumangarh," police said.
According to the police, Neru was living with his husband Gagan and daughter Kanshu in Punjab. She had come to Sangriya to celebrate the festival of Raksha Bandhan with his brother Parveen. The family had gone to a temple in Salasar, and were driving back to Sangriya when their Ritz car lost balance on a highway between Manksar and Nakrana.
The driver of a Bhatinda bound bus pulled over his bus to rescue the stranded passengers of the car. The villagers also reached the spot to rescue the passengers, "The passengers at font seat had died on the spot. Others were bleeding profusely. The villagers called 108 ambulances and the police. The rescue team had to cut the gates of the car to wriggle out the bodies," police said.
