ALWAR: The Alwar police on Sunday arrested five sharp shooters of a Haryana-based gang who had come to Behror town with an aim to carry out multiple loots and terrorize local traders to pay protection money. "Police have arrested Vikram, Nepal, Vikarm Gurjar alias Laden, Pawan and Pratap of 'Chiku Gang' based on specific information," Rahul Prakash, Alwar SP, told media.
Three country-made pistols and bullets have also been recovered from the gang members. "The leader of the gang is in prison in Alwar. His arrest had resulted in the gang losing its grip in the area. He asked his shooters to go to Behror and create a sense of terror among the shopkeepers and traders so that they start paying protection money," the SP said.
Police had received tip-offs that two members of the gang had uploaded their pictures on Whatsapp where they were brandishing weapons. "The intelligence input stated that Vikram's wife had been staying with her lover Rinku Yadav in Kotkasim area near Haryana for the past one year. Vikram had also hatched a conspiracy to kill Yadav and his family members," police said.
"The Behror SHO carried out intensive search operations in the area and spotted the accused driving a jeep. They were nabbed and taken for questioning where they revealed their plans," police said. Police have attributed the arrests as a 'major breakthrough' and said that the gang would have unleashed bloodbath if the bid was not foiled."The gang has been involved in a series of killings, loots and other acts of organized crime. It's a big blow to the gangs operating in the area," police said.
