New Delhi: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi speaks on rising food prices in the Lok Sabha shortly. This is one of the issues the Opposition is looking to corner the government on. Party sources on Wednesday said that the House is expected to take up a short duration discussion on the issue.
Earlier, in a blistering attack on the Modi government, Congress president Sonia Gandhi had on July 20 accused it of destabilising institutions, polarising society and mistaking its parliamentary majority for a licence to impose its narrow ideology on people.
Addressing the first meeting of Congress parliamentary party in the ongoing Monsoon session of Parliament, she had also slammed it for "deception", "glib marketing slogans" and snatching the rights of Dalits, adivasis, specifically citing the Gujarat incident where four Dalits were beaten and humiliated publicly.
Sonia had also referred to the unrest in the Kashmir Valley which has witnessed turmoil after the killing of Hizbul commander Burhan Wani with clashes claiming over 40 lives.
