New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi will undertake a long winding road show from eastern UP to the western region early next month to shore up support for Congress for next year's assembly polls.
The road show will commence from Deoria and will culminate in Meerut after touching 42 districts. The roadshow will be approximately 25-days long. This comes after Congress President Sonia Gandhi took out a rally in PM Modi’s constituency Varanasi earlier this month.
The party has declared Shiela Dikshit as the chief ministerial candidate for the UP assembly polls. Rahul’s ‘yatra’ comes in the thick of two yatras led by Raj Babbar and Shiela Dikshit which started on August 2. According to sources, Rahul will lead his roadshow in a bus and would address small gathering along his way. This is yet another effort on Congress’ part to step in UP where it has been out of power for over three decades.
Congress in its campaign launched by Sonia Gandhi hailed the slogan “27 saal-UP behaal” where thousands of supporters gathered in order to show their support for the party.
