Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday appointed Rahul Bhatnagar as the state's new chief secretary. Bhatnagar replaces 1982 batch IAS officer Deepak Singhal as chief secretary.
On being appointed as new chief secretary, Bhatnagar said, "A good opportunity to work in the interest of the state. It's a huge responsibility on my shoulders."
Singhal was appointed as chief secretary of Uttar Pradesh in July this year replacing Alok Ranjan. This is the third removal in a row in Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party government. Earlier on Monday, UP CM removed the mining minister Gayatri Prajapati and the Panchayati Raj Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Raj Kishore Singh from their Cabinet.
