NEW YORK: Tennis champion Rafael Nadal defeated Kevin Anderson by 6-3, 6-3, 6-4 in the finals of U.S. Open tournament that took place on Sunday. This win helped him to clinch third championship at Flushing Meadows.
Rafael Nadal has secured second Grand Slam title of the year and clinched 16th position. While, Roger Federer has 19 till now. The duo achieved two games this year.
“Personally, it’s just unbelievable what happened this year,” Nadal affirmed, “after a couple of years with some troubles, injuries, some moments playing not good.”
Since 1973 rankings, Kevin Anderson lies in the category of lowest-ranked U.S. Open men’s finalist. Among 33 matches, Anderson had never qualified in the quarterfinals of game.
“I know we’re the same age, but I feel like I’ve been watching you my whole life,” said Anderson, who is less than a month older than Nadal. “You really have been an idol of mine. And it’s tough playing you. You proved it again tonight.”
In year 2010 and 2013, Rafael Nadal clinched the U.S. Open tournament and enhanced to 16-7 in Grand Slam finals. In January, he lost the game against Roger Federer at the Australian Open. He defeated Stan Wawrinka during 10th French Open tournament held in June.
