R Ashwin wins International Cricketer of the Year award

A well-known India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin clinched the popular International Cricketer of the Year award at CEAT Cricket Rating (CCR) International awards 2017 that take place on Tuesday at the Cricket Club of India.

Former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar and Harsh Goenka, Chairman of RPG Enterprises presented the award to Ravichandran Ashwin at an occasion.

Ravi Ashwin helped India to won 10 out of 13 test matches against New Zealand, England, Bangladesh and Australia.

In over 12 months, R Ashwin has taken 99 wickets.

During the occasion, U-19 player Shubhman Gill got the ‘Young player of the year’ award.  He clinched this award for his oustanding performance during the India-England ODI series.

Ravi Ashwin remembered that his first autograph which he took from Gavaskar at the Chepauk stadium in Chennai.

Ashwin also appreciated player Sundar for his remarkable performance in the Indian Premier League matches.

“Washington did really well in the Vijay Hazare trophy. I had heard from a couple of people that he is doing well. He has got good idea of how to bowl in T20s and to ball with the new ball is a massive challenge.” Ashwin stated.

“The first scar which you will inflict will always have value and he initially bowled well. The pace and the length which he hit was very very critical,” Ashwin asserted.
