PV Sindhu, Kidambi Srikanth enter quarter finals in French Open Superseries


Paris: Indian Badminton Champs PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth entered into the quarter-final round of French Open Superseries tournament whereas World Championship bronze medalist Saina Nehwal lost the game against opponent player on Thursday.

Indian duo Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty astonished Mads Conrad-Petersen and Mads Pieler Kolding to enter their second quarter-final match.

Rio Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu beat Japan’s Sayaka Takahashi 21-14, 21-13 to create a vengeance game over China’s Chen Yufei. In the initial round, she defeated PV Sindhu at Denmark Open tournament.

Sindhu had overpowered Spain’s Beatriz Corrales 21-19, 21-18 in the starting round game on Wednesday.

On the other hand, Kidambi Srikanth thrashed Hong Kong’s Wong Wing Ki Vincent 21-19, 21-17 in a 37-minute match of tournament. Last week, Indian champ had bang Wong in the semi-finals at Denmark Open.

In the starting game, Srikanth had come out with triumphs following his opponent Fabian Roth of Germany lost the game at 0-3.

Players Satwiksairaj and Chiragdished clinched victory after overpowering 2016 European champions Conrad-Petersen and Kolding by 22-20, 12-21, 21-19 to enter the quarter-final round.

While Saina Nehwal couldn’t able to win the game against Japan’s World No 5 Akane Yamaguchi. In the 39th minute of match, she lost the game by 9-21 21-23. Earlier, Saina had lost the game against  Yamaguchi in the quarter-final round at Odense.
