New Delhi: Rio Olympic Silver Medallist PV Sindhu reached into the semifinals of the Dubai World Superseries after thrashing her opponent Japanese player Sayaka Sato in straight sets by 21-13, 21-12 on Thursday.
PV Sindhu dominated Sato who couldn’t able to defeat her despite of great performance.
On Friday, the player will play against world No. 2 Akane Yamaguchi in her final group-stage game. Indian Shuttler Sindhu has a 4-2 head-to-head record over Yamaguchi.
Sindhu’s easy triumph on Thursday assured her place in the last-four.
On the other hand, Tien Chen of Taiwan defeated Kidambi Srikanth in the second straight group match 21-18, 21-18. For the second time, Indian Shuttler faced off Chen. Prior, he played against him at the Hong Kong Open.
Srikanth’s second defeat in the currently going tournament has put him out of argument for the semifinals even though he secures a victory on Friday.
