Punjabi Kadhi Recipe

Besan ki Kadhi  is a favorite Indian dish which is supposed to be relish with steamed or cumin (jeera) rice. We are sharing this wonderful Indian Recipe.

Recipe for Cheese Omelet

Ingredients For Pakora:

  • 1 cup chickpea flour (Besan)
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon carom seeds (ajwain)
  • salt to taste
  • 1/4 cup water
  • mustard oil for deep frying pakoras

Ingredients for kadhi 

  • 375 grams sour curd
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon garam masala
  • salt to taste
  • 8 tablespoon chickpeas powder (besan)
  • 2 tablespoon mustard oil
  • 1 chopped medium sized onion
  • 1 tablespoon ginger
  • 2 pinch fengureek seeds (methi seeds)
  • 1 table spoon chopped garlic
  • 2 chopped green chilies
  • 2 red dry, broken red chili
  • small pinch of asafoetida (heeng)
  • 10 curry leaves

Instructions for pakoras: 

  • Take the besan in a mixing bowl add all ingredients(besan, chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, ajwain, salt, onions,ajwain ) whisk them well
  • pour water in the mixture and mix the ingredients well into smooth paste
  • once the mixture is ready, deep fry the pakoras by frying small quantities of mixture them in hot oil
  • keep the pakoras aside

Instructions for kadhi:

  • In a deep pan (kadhai) warm mustard oil, add mustard seeds, methi seeds and heeng, let the seeds crackle. methi seeds will change it’s color. Cook them on low flame
  • add chopped onion to hot oil and saute on low flame
  • then add chopped ginger, chopped garlic and green chilies saute the ingredients for a minute
  • add curry leaves, red dry chilies saute them for a minute
  • then add curd and water in the mixture, stir it well with the mixture
  • keep stirring the mixture and let it boil on low flame
  • kadhi will thicken, add onion pakoras, stir gently and let pakoras get soaked
  • serve it hot with coriander garnishing
