An inquiry has been ordered by Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Captain Amarinder Singh over Mansa incident that was held on October 11.
Amarinder Singh said, "This is tragic and we demand an investigation into this but they (accused) have political protection, what'll police do? A Dalit youth in Punjab's Mansa district was allegedly hacked to death on the suspicion that he was acting as an informer for liquor contractors and the police, and helping in exposing illegal sale of liquor in his area.”
The name of the person has been identified as Sukhchain Singh. He was beaten to death by atleast seven people on Monday. Just after the incident, his dead body was found near his home.
Police asserted, Sukhchain's killers chopped off his left leg on Monday and he was beaten up by sticks by seven people.
A case has been lodged under Sections 302, 148 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Kot Dhamu Police Station.
Sukhchain used to 'sell liquor illegally', said local residents.
