Punjab government will open 13 new government colleges this year


Punjab: The Punjab government has taken decision to open 13 new government colleges in the state this year.

This decision was taken by Punjab Government on Thursday, June 9.

Higher Education Minister Surjit Singh Rakhra stated the following in one of the reports according to PTI:

  • Of the total 13 colleges, two colleges will be professional, two of them would be based on model degree, while the remaining nine will be degree colleges
  • The construction work of these colleges was in full swing, he said, emphasising that one professional, two model degree and nine other colleges would be started from the current session 2016-17
  • He also revealed that the two professional and two model degree colleges would be started in collaboration with the Rashtriya Uchttam Siksha Abhiyan (RUSA).

Total investment for two professional government colleges:

The Punjab government has finalised to open two professional government colleges namely, Punjab Arts and Sports College, Jalandhar, and the Punjab Aeronautical College of Engineering, Patiala.

Rs 26 crore have been invested in both the colleges.
