The rejection by Cinema Owners and Exhibitors Association of India (COEAI) to suspend the release of ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ in single screen theatres in western India is the result of a ‘conspiracy’, says controversial actor Kamaal R Khan, who was earlier targeted by Ajay Devgan for promoting the Karan Johar directorial.
Ajay had earlier this year allegedly said that Karan paid Kamaal Rs 25 lakh to tweet positively about ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ and to give negative reviews to ‘Shivaay’, which he has directed and acted in.
Kamaal spoke up in favour of ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ on Friday after COEAI announced that ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ won’t release in single screen theatres in Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat, due to the presence of Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in it.
The makers of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil have issued a statement asserting that the film that has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and will release on 28 October as announced earlier. Said Apoorva Mehta, CEO, Dharma Productions, “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has been cleared by the CBFC and we are gearing up for its release on the 28th of October. Diwali is all about love and Ae Dil is all about spreading love.” Added Vijay Singh, CEO, Fox Star Studios, “Karan Johar’s films present love in its most pure yet unique and modern way and this Diwali he is celebrating love, friendship and heartbreak.
