Priyanka Vadra is all set to play major role in UP polls

Lucknow: Congress president Sonia Gandhi's daughter Priyanka Vadra is all set to play a "major role" in the forthcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. She is likely to campaign extensively in the poll-bound state.

The meeting saw senior leaders like former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit and leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad present to discuss the future strategy of the Congress in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections.

The core meet is also expected to arrive at a decision on the role of Prashant Kishor in the upcoming elections. Kishor, who has been known as the one with the numbers and the polls, has not been provided with a specific role in the elections. However, it might also be interesting to see Priyanka Gandhi, who has remained shy from active politics in the last few years jumping into the middle of things.

Priyanka Gandhi finds in the midst of a Congress leadership that has been called toothless and is deemed to fail in the elections. Priyanka Gandhi is being seen with the party core in the midst of calls for change in leadership in the Congress. It would be too soon to say that Priyanka Gandhi might have been back to take on the leadership or actively participate in the UP elections but it cannot be denied either that if she were to, this might be the last opportunity she gets before the Congress diminishes any further in stature.
