NEW DELHI: PM Narendra Modi articulated his sorrow over the demise of former Chief Justice of India P.N. Bhagwati, who lost live on Thursday.
“The demise of Justice P.N. Bhagwati is saddening. He was a stalwart of India’s legal fraternity. My deepest condolences,” Modi stated.
“Justice PN Bhagwati’s remarkable contributions made our judicial system more accessible and gave voice to millions.” He added.
Bhagwati passed away in Delhi at a hospital on Thursday due to illness. He was 95 yrs old.
Bhagwati was famous for bringing Public Interest Litigation. He had also taken part in India’s freedom movement.
Bhagwati was the well known Chief Justice of India and faced the tenure from July 12, 1985 to December 20, 1986. He was born on December 21, 1921, and took his education from Bombay.
